The advantages of compensators are among others that they significantly enhance the service life of pipelines and connected equipment. Thermal expansions, vibrations, pressure thrust forces and/or indulgence in the foundation of settlement can be found in pipelines, depending on, and caused by, the media which is continuously running through it. The results of these factors are movements in the pipeline. If a pipeline cannot be constructed in a way that it absorbs the movements itself (by e.g. a loop expansion joint) it is necessary to install flexible elements in the pipeline.
